Boston Foreign Commerce Club Supports End Hunger New England Outreach Program:
The Boston Foreign Commerce Clubs is pleased to announce our latest donation to a tremendous local charity.
Thanks to the generous support of industry stakeholders and our successful Holiday Calendar raffle, we were able to donate $5,000 to the End Hunger New England Outreach Program (https://www.endhungerne.org), which produces prepackaged meals for homeless shelters, food pantries and other programs. This incredible non-profit organization brings awareness too, and support for, the staggering hunger pandemic that people are facing in our own backyard.
The mission of the organization is "to feed more hungry New Englanders every year". Last year alone, the group provided nutritious food to feed four million people! They also organize food packaging events at their warehouse in Pembroke, MA which are open to volunteers. Their goal is to package 77,000 meals a week, 334,000 a month, 4 million every year!
End Hunger New England is part of The Outreach Program (https://outreachprogram.org/), a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation that organizes food packaging events around the country. With more than 675 million meals packaged to date, the organization’s mission is to provide safe water, food, medical care, and education to those in need, at home and abroad.
The End Hunger NE Outreach Program is also hoping to produce 1 million meals to send to Ukrainian refugees. FCC members BOC Int’l, Boston Freight Terminals and Ravan Transport have graciously offered their services to help arrange logistics and transportation for the 3 containers it will take to ship the meals.
There is an ongoing need for and ways to contribute and/or volunteer. There are also opportunities for individuals and groups to promote the program through Instagram, Facebook, and other social media outlets.
